  13. APPLE REDUCES PRICES ON MEMORY EXPANSION KITS

  16. CUPERTINO, California--March 19, 1990--Apple Computer, Inc. announced today
  17. price decreases of up to 50 percent on its Macintosh memory expansion kits.

  19. Prices were reduced on memory kits for almost all Macintosh systems as well as
  20. LaserWriter NTX printers.

  22. "This widespread price reduction on memory benefits not only our installed base
  23. of customers but new users as well," said David Hancock, senior vice president
  24. marketing, Apple USA.  "Additional memory allows users to better utilize
  25. powerful products like MultiFinder and HyperCard today. And, they'll be in a
  26. position to take full advantage of our System Software 7.0 which will ship
  27. later this year."

  29. Apple has seen some improvement in the cost of key components of its Macintosh
  30. systems.  "We are experiencing some lower memory component costs and are now in
  31. a position to pass those savings on to our customers in the form of less
  32. expensive memory kits and savings on Macintosh computers with lots of standard
  33. memory," said Hancock.

  35. The company announced corresponding price decreases on selected highly
  36. configured versions of the Macintosh IIx, IIcx and IIci. These systems feature
  37. large amounts of standard memory (4MB) and large capacity hard disks (either
  38. 80MB or 160MB).

  40. In addition, Apple lowered the price on its Apple Hard Disk 20SC by more than
  41. 20 percent. The 20SC is a 20MB hard disk drive popular with customers of floppy
  42. disk-based systems such as the Macintosh Plus and SE.

  44. The new U.S. pricing structure is effective immediately. Current and previous
  45. suggested retail prices are attached.
